Hawkes Bay Regional Prison Cell Hardening Project

The HB Prison Cell Hardening Project was constructed under urgency and MCL collaborated with the client to create a design-build solution and put in place a project programme that allowed MCL to quickly remedy the issues along with upgrading all the security requirements for a High Security prison block.

The project consisted of upgrading existing cell accommodation in order to achieve a higher security class of prisoners. The scope of work included the upgrade of internal metal cladding & doors and other means to restrict access & movement of Prisoners.

This required costs and quality assurance to be assembled with MCL’s input, due to the unknown value of the project. MCL also assisted the client in the preparation of a final budget and timeframe which ensured minimal time, cost and prisoner movements throughout construction.
